Phi Phi Islands, some drops in the Andaman Sea

Maya Beach at Phi Phi
Maya Beach at Phi Phi

This small archipelago in Krabi Province but rather off Phuket Island consists of Ko Phi Phi Don, Phi Phi Ley, Ko Yung (Mosquito Island) and some limestone rocks popping out from the Andaman Sea. A few decades ago only a small Muslim fishing community as at many other islands and coasts in southern Thailand, now a prime travel destination. A tremendous push to the popularity came some years ago when they shot the movie "The Beach" with Leonardo Di Caprio.

The rather wild distribution of hotels, houses, beach cottages etc. got a clearance by the Tsunami some years ago which swept away all the ugly structures and made space for a new beginning.

This are tropical islands in the Andaman Sea in Krabi Province south of Phuket and Phang Nga Bay which is a surrealistic water and limestone world by itself. Everyone who saw a picture from Halong Bay in Vietnam can imagine what’s going on here.

Islands in the sun with great beaches, warm tropical waters, a great underwater world, ideal for snorkeling and scuba diving diving and a good infrastructure of functioning hotel, cottages and guest houses with moderate prices, no dominant luxury beach resorts just an affordable dream world.
